One of the targets of Millennium Development Goal #6 is to halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS, by 2015. The MDG Country Report 2005 shows that although there was an almost exponential increase in HIV prevalence levels between 1990 and 1998 there is a gradual stabilization and slowing down of HIV prevalence increases with statistically significant growth approximately every second year. The response to HIV and AIDS and STIs was fairly limited before 1994. Dedicated expenditure on HIV and AIDS programs across national departments has increased from about R30 million in 1994 to R342 million in 2001/02. This excludes allocations from provincial equitable share. This increased expenditure funds a comprehensive prevention, care and treatment program. By the end of April 2005, the ARV program had 143 health facilities in all the 53 health districts providing comprehensive HIV and AIDS services to more than 50 000 patients who are on treatment in the public health sector alone.

Creating a brand that is specifically aimed at challenging apathy, denial, stigma and silence. My submission is \"African Wave\"
Wave being an acronym for War Against Virus Infecting Next Generation.
The promotion of the brand through socio-entrepreneural platform means that we create products that are wearable, so that t-shirts, bracelets and other wearable items facilitate awareness. An African Wave t-shirt could for example be sold to schools, where the most profound slogans on the issue are printed to reflect that particular schools take on the matter. A school might want to say \"We a unashamedly united with those who are affected and infected...or active awareness...we don\'t need to be instructed as much as we need to be reminded.
Flashsticks with preload hiv information sold at subsidised price means we getting info out there.
African Wave has the ability to place HIV/AIDS on the world stage.

1. Abstinence-Enforced by parents,schools and society
2. Education-Talk about sex HIV Aids and send a team that is well prepared to every school in SA, where is the money set aside for HIV AIDS going, and what about the help from other countries...
The team should-Educate pupils about sex (NO RESERVATIONS)
(treat the pupils like adults and they just might behave like adults)but teach the ABC of sex and physical, spiritual and mental consequences.
Case studies of AIDS victims and how they die, how we can help victims and NOT to discriminate against them. Those who have an active sex life should be encouraged not to practice unprotected sex and have lots of different partners. In short the teams sent to every school in SA should provide:
1) Counsel,support and advice-one on one
2) Educate- HIV AIDS
- Preventing Measures (All Options)
- Case Studies
- Video\'s/pictures
- Responsibility in iradicating the disease |
