What is your solution to reduce poverty and the number of people living with less than 2 $/day by 2015?

Millennium Development Goal #1 has two targets for South Africa: to halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than one dollar a day; and to halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people who suffer from hunger.

According to MDG Country Report 2005 for South Africa, using national estimates of poverty and inequality in South Africa, in 2000, 11% of people were living on less than US $1 a day and 34% were living on less than US $2 a day. The share of the poorest 20% of households accounted for 2.8% of total expenditure in 2000, while the share of the wealthiest 20% of households accounted for 64.5% of total expenditure.
